No, you need the forestay at first, directly after you set up the mast, to set up the right "mast tilt" (Mastneigung).
For a Crusing set up it will be 2.0 degrees. Thats nearly 35 mm (or 1,4 inch) between mast an straight main halyard.
It´s difficult to measure so don´t try to do not as accurate <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="
